My name is Michelle Darnell and I have been given the opportunity to serve this community as the principal of Westside. I began my teaching journey here in 2004 as a 4th grade teacher, and God saw fit for me to return to my starting place. My Westside teaching experience includes 4th grade, 3rd grade, and 1st grade. I served as the Assistant Principal at Coopertown Middle School from 2012-2015. This is my 5th year at Westside Elementary. I am married to Dion Darnell, and I have two great girls, Deondria and Elysia Darnell. My motto has always been....Is this school good enough for my child? As long as my answer is yes, I know Westside is on the right track! I am committed to making sure it's good enough for YOUR child too.
The most important part of a building is its foundation. A building will surely fall without solid ground. Westside is the foundation of Robertson County. Our faculty and staff is committed to making a positive impression on every child. My desire is for every student to know that we love and support them. My desire is for every student to feel safe. My desire is for every student to be academically prepared.

As we begin our seventh year as administrators of Westside Elementary School, our focus on student needs and success is stronger than ever. We take pride and are proud of the work being done inside the walls of Westside. We truly know that every student and his/her individual needs are being met while with us at WES.
On a personal level, I have been married to Barry Barnett for twenty five years. We have two children. Dalton is twenty-five and Emily is twenty years old. We live in Robertson County. I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and Learning from Tennessee State University and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Austin Peay State University. I have been with Robertson County Schools for eighteen years.
I have a heart for serving the students and parents in the community. Mrs. Darnell and I are blessed to lead a committed faculty and staff that go above and beyond, on a daily basis, to make the best decisions possible to enable our students to be successful and meet their full potential. Our goal is easy to understand. We want our student to be able to read, lead, and succeed. We love a challenge. Westside is a fabulous place to be.
